My friend James had a dream: Robyn Hitchcock was on the David Letterman show, and he announced his new song, which had this song's title. James tried to write the song...but the rather unwieldy phrase threw him a bit, so he gave up.

I, foolishly, took up the notion.

The bridge refers to the old 'Mutual of Omaha Wild Kingdom' and nefarious goings-on allowing unlikely things to be filmed...but what happened to the poor critters afterwards?
